Oregon Vacation

No crafting now - just family time. :-) Smoke is thick, but no fires in our immediate area.
This little cutie is Piper, daughter Julie's fur-baby.
Smoke coming in from the coast - air quality isn't so great.
Wedding reception for daughter Crystal and son-in-law Michael. (They were
married in January, but waited till summer to have the party!
My three favorite people!!
We met Crystal's in-laws, Jeff and Paulette. Olive (the
Great Dane) loved to sit on tiny Paulette's lap.
Crystal and granddaughter Addison
Dad has a job to do!
Michael and Crystal have a wonderful little garden - lots of zucchini!

August Technique Blog Hop

AUGUST - Stamping on Patterned Paper

Welcome to A Year of Card Techniques Blog Hop where each month we feature a different card technique. We’ve assembled a team of card makers who range from new to advanced, so you’ll see a great variety of cards and ideas.

We all love our stamp sets and we all love our patterned paper. Well, this month we’re combining the two by stamping ON patterned paper for some unique projects. It will be fun to see what stamps and papers our team members decide to pair together. And if you would like to check out our past technique hops, you can do that here:

January-Shaving Cream Marbleizing

February-So Sketchy

March-no hop this month

April-Stamp Set Showdown

May-World of Watercolor

June-Basic Card Folds

July-Bleaching Your Card

Our amazing sponsor this month is Card a Day Challenge Blog.

Please take a moment to check out the CADC blog here.
And... there are TWO awesome prizes this month:

We  really appreciate feedback, so please leave a comment on each of the  blogs in the hop today.   The winner will be announced on Sunday,  August 27, 2017 on A Piece of (my) Heart’s blog, so be sure to go back and check her blog to see if you are the winner!  If you would prefer to be notified, please leave your email address in the comments and someone will contact you if you win. The winner will have until September 9, 2017 to claim their prize.
So...let's get to it! You should have arrived here from Kim's blog, Katydid Cards. If you're visiting  here first, you might want to start at the beginning so you don't miss a thing and increase your chances of winning by commenting on  each blog.
Here are my cards this month:
This was my first try. Maybe the pattern on this paper from the Designers' Choice Prints pack was a bit too large for the size of the stamps, but I like the colors together. This is a new stamp set called "Hello Fall" that just came out in the Fun Stampers Journey Holidays catalog.
I've hoarded this gorgeous piece of paper for a very long time, because I love the colors and the soft, kind of cloudy look of it. I decided my new "Dandelion Wishes" set was perfect for it. (Not so sure about the silver, though.)
I over-stamped this piece of yellow patterned paper with the retired FSJ Star Burst background stamp in orange - then didn't know what to do with it! Die cuts and punches to the rescue, though. I also got to play with my brand new toy, a Brother Scan 'n' Cut 250, to cut out the sentiment.  It's an older model, but I'm absolutely in love with it. I still love my Silhouette Cameo too, :-), but this gives me a really quick way to cut out things that don't have dies.
I love to paper-piece, so this card just seemed natural. Who can resist a llama in brown flowery pajamas! The little corner embellishment is also punched & die-cut from patterned paper scraps. This set of 12 stamps is called "No Prob-llama", has a matching set of 6 dies and some really cute sayings.

Now you’re off to visit with Jearise at Lorby's World. Hope you had fun....see you next month with another technique!

Mystic Romance

I did some stamping for a friend yesterday, using some of the new Fun Stampers Journey "Mystic Romance" sets that look like embroidery. After 11 cards, I decided I really should have just gone to the catalog and used it for inspiration - I was running out of ideas! It was a good way to push myself out of my usual style though!
